Fig. 1 Drama triangle Life can be lived in the present or as a performance in which everything is a sham. Three dramatic role play - Chaser, savior and victim - a melodramatic simplifications of real life. We see ourselves as generous Saviors grateful or ungrateful Victims. We see ourselves as the righteous and the wicked pursuers sacrifice of the wicked pursuers. Playing any of these roles, we lose sight of the reality that we confront. We simplify the complexity of real life, and, like actors on the stage, who know that their characters are fictitious, but must pretend that they are real, we play a show.
